Harper Stone Properties Limited (Harper Stone) was formed by Chris Brotherton in early 2013, with the aim to offer a superior level of service to the Property Management industry across Sussex, London and Southern England. Having worked previously for a Brighton-based agent followed by 5 years in London for multinational corporate firms Knight Frank LLP and Cluttons LLP, Chris returned to his Sussex roots to set up Harper Stone and to fill, what he perceived to be, a gap in the Block Property Management market, notably for service excellence.
Harper Stone has grown organically in a structured manner from a start-up company to a fully-fledged, RICS Accredited credible Block Management and Building Surveying Company. Operating throughout southern England our current portfolio consists of over 250 freehold blocks and approximately 1600 individual flats. Our client base includes; Regional and National Private Freehold Investment Companies, Private Landlords, New Build Developers and Right To Manage (RTMs)/Residential Management Companies (RMCs).
Four years on and Harper Stone has grown in terms of portfolio size, client base and staff. We are now a team of 10 including our integrated Building Surveying department; significant investment and development has been undertaken to propel us forward as we continue to transform from a fledgling company to an established and recognised industry player.
We currently manage a variety of buildings consisting of Converted, Purpose Built and New Build Blocks ranging in size from 2 flats up to 73 flats. In turn, they vary in the nature of their requirements and services; some require twice monthly supplies of oil for communal heating and hot water whilst others contain complex Mechanical and Electrical plant equipment such as passenger lifts, car lifts and even car park traffic lights which all need to be serviced, repaired and maintained cyclically.
Other properties are unique and specialist in the nature of their build. As an example of this, our appointment as Managing Agent to manage Brighton and Hove’s prestigious 1930’s-built, seafront located, Embassy Court, is a significant feather in the hat for Harper Stone and tangible proof that we are getting Property Management right in a competitive marketplace.
